I am the proud father of a West Point graduate (1996) and company commander in the Iraq war who served his country with honor and completed his mission. He is now home; I pray that other soldiers will soon follow. Because their extended service in Iraq is dependent on a realistic assessment of the facts on the ground, it is important that our military and political leaders conduct an open and honest debate.

Guards union gets the shaft Many strange things happen on the final night of a California state legislative session – bills that mysteriously appear or disappear, verbal and physical confrontations between overtired and/or overstimulated politicians, floor debates that deteriorate into gibberish, to name but a few.
