  • Two brothers are charged in severe beating at party
    EL CAJON – Two brothers have been charged with beating a La Mesa man so seriously that he has lost sight in one eye. Son Hoang Dinh, 33, pleaded not guilty in El Cajon Superior Court yesterday to charges of assault likely to cause great bodily harm.

  • Stargazers come out at night for viewings at battlefield park
    ESCONDIDO – Thor Biberman has seen craters on the moon, the bands of Jupiter, the constellation Pegasus and the Andromeda galaxy. But Biberman says the most spectacular sight he has viewed through the eyepiece of one of his telescopes is Saturn, a bright yellow sphere with white-yellow rings slicing through its center.

  • Suspected serial rapist arrested in victim's car
    SAN DIEGO – Police said a 29-year-old man arrested Thursday night is a serial rapist responsible for at least three sexual assaults in six days. Deandre Smith was taken into custody when police saw him driving a car stolen from a rape victim Tuesday night in University Heights, San Diego police Lt. Carolyn Kendrick said.
