FRESHWATER
Barrett: The 137 anglers checked reported 2,028 bass (all released), 323 bluegill and 80 crappie.
Chollas: Open daily to youngsters 15 and under.
Cuyamaca: Great fishing for all species continues. Fly fishing with a lot of surface action in early morning and late evening. Missy Belmer, San Diego, 4.75 rainbow, gold Rooster Tail at dam. Four-year-old Garrett Taylor, Escondido, 4.25 trout, rainbow power bait at dike.
Dixon: Trout and bass fishing slow. Catfish bite was very good all weekend (many catches over 3 pounds). Open daily, open for night fishing until 11:45, Thursday through Saturday until the end of summer.
El Capitan: The 312 anglers checked reported 6 bass kept, 239 bass released, 383 bluegill, 130 crappie, 61 channel catfish, 12 blue catfish and 1 carp. Hank Oung, Spring Valley, 25 black crappie (largest 2.3 pounds), jigs, front bay. Rob and Angela Shannon, El Cajon, 50 black crappie (1.5), shiners, night fishing. Open Friday, Saturday (until midnight) and Sunday to fishing and water contact activities such as water skiing and Jet Skis.
Henshaw: Ernest Gonzalez, San Diego, 2 crappie (largest 1 pound) and 3 catfish (1.75); Jim Seacrest, National City, caught and released one bass (4.0) and caught five catfish (2.0); Joe Brown, San Diego, caught and released two bass (2.0) and caught one 2-pound catfish; Cory Jones, San Diego, 4 catfish (4.0); Ed Bowman, Lakeside, one 2-pound catfish; Steve Miller, El Cajon, two catfish (3.0); Neil Crest, San Diego, 4 catfish (3.5).
Hodges: 353 anglers checked reported 6 bass kept, 152 bass released, 72 bluegill, 205 crappie (largest 2.05 pounds), 34 channel catfish (4.55). Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Jennings: Bite continues to be fair for all species with bass starting to get into summer routine, while catfish have slowed. David DelValle, 13, of San Diego, 3.12 largemouth bass on worm. Dan Ames, 9.2 largemouth, drop shot reaper; Patrick Neu, 7.0 largemouth, pig and jig at Shadow Cove. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday; summer schedule is Friday, 5 p.m.-11:45 p.m.; Saturday, 5:30 a.m.-11:45 p.m.; Sunday, 5:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m.
Loveland: The 126 anglers checked reported 2 bass kept, 17 bass released, 92 bluegill, 2 channel catfish and 7 bullhead catfish. Open daily.
Miramar: The 150 anglers, checked reported 2 bass kept, 56 bass released, 3 bluegill, 14 rainbow trout and 20 channel catfish. Open Saturday through Tuesday.
Morena: Anglers still finding trout drifting with power bait and nightcrawlers. Large amount of bass in 1 to 3 pound range showing up on plastics. Bluegill/crappie panfishing still very good when located; Brad Phiffer strung 5 pounds total, wax worms. Lots of smaller 1-2 pounders showing up on worms. Carp still great biting dough balls and corn.
Murray: The 194 anglers checked reported 15 bass released, 167 bluegill and 3 channel catfish. James Bess, Spring Valley, 1 bluegill (1.8 pounds), wax worm. Open Wednesday Saturday and Sunday; shore fishing daily.
Otay, Lower: The 538 anglers checked reported 32 bass kept, 315 bass released (largest 6.3 pounds). 1,141 bluegill (1.65 pounds), 9 crappie (1.45) and 57 channel catfish (12.55). Open Wednesday Saturday and Sunday. Bobby Gonzalez, Imperial Beach, large mouth bass (6.1), sinko, at Otay Arm.
Otay, Upper: The 26 anglers checked reported 29 bass all released. Open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Stocked with trout.
Poway: With water level dropping, trout are deep with best bite from boats in middle of lake. Michael Cruz, San Diego, 9.5 bass. Night fishing begins June 30 and runs every Friday and Saturday through Sept. 9. Fishing boats until 11 p.m. and fishing from shoreline until 11:30 p.m.
Santee Lakes: Four-year-old Michael Matherson, San Diego, 1½ pound bass out of lake 2 and 7½ bass out of lake 4. Sal Corona, Santee, 3½ pound bass out of lake 7 on drop shot plastic. Michael Hansford, age 7, 6½ pound catfish, shiner out of lake 4. Bluegill are biting well on all lakes, while carp are surfacing in lakes 1 and 5. Next stock of catfish, Friday.
San Vicente: The 140 anglers checked reported 13 bass kept, 332 bass released, 405 bluegill, 16 redear sunfish, 1 crappie, 33 rainbow trout and 22 channel catfish. Open Thursday through Sunday. Weekends open to water contact activities but closed to fishing.
Skinner: Plenty of variety with a huge large-mouth bass bite. Stocked with 500 pounds of catfish on June 15. Open daily.
Sutherland: The 144 anglers checked reported 17 bass kept, 290 bass released (largest 4.9 pounds), 32 bluegill, 80 crappie, 28 channel catfish and 1 carp. Ed Ceiplis, El Cajon, caught four large mouth bass (4.85), plastics, on East Shore. Open Friday through Sunday.
Sweetwater: The 85 anglers checked reported 32 bass (21 released), 24 bluegill and 9 carp.
Wohlford: Action improved with small to mid-size catfish striking nightcrawlers, chicken liver or shrimp. Bass slow and trout have moved to buoy lines. Joe Veytia, Vista caught channel catfish (2.12), nightcrawler, west buoy line. Next plant of catfish, June 28.

Loma Sportfishing, H&M Landing, Fisherman's Landing: 34 anglers, two 1½-day boats: 63 albacore, 43 yellowtail, 50 bluefin tuna. 22 anglers, one overnight boat: 3 albacore, 12 yellowtail, 1 bluefin tuna. 87 anglers, two three-quarter-day boats: 15 yellowtail, 48 calico bass, 295 sand bass, 41 barracuda, 2 bonito, 7 sculpin. 109 anglers, four half-day boats: 449 sand bass, 29 barracuda, 2 halibut, 23 rockfish, 5 sculpin.
Seaforth: 38 anglers, two full-day boats: 20 albacore, 3 bluefin, 17 yellowtail. 20 anglers, one 1½-day boat: 51 albacore, 30 bluefin, 9 yellowtail. 55 anglers, two three-quarter-day boats: 14 yellowtail, 4 bonito, 108 barracuda, 60 calico bass, 260 sand bass. 112 anglers, two half-day boats: 7 bonito, 8 barracuda, 76 calico bass, 8 sand bass, 7 rockfish, 1 ling cod. 15 anglers, one twilight boat: 1 white sea bass, 8 bonito, 23 barracuda, 7 calico bass, 3 sand bass, 7 rockfish.
Islandia: 88 anglers, two half-day boats: 1 barracuda, 6 bonito, 10 calico bass, 1 ling cod, 28 rockfish, 6 sand bass, 3 sculpin. 19 anglers, 1 twilight boat: 17 barracuda, 2 bonito, 9 calico bass, 22 sand bass. 13 anglers, one three-quarter-day boat: 28 barracuda, 2 calico bass, 17 rockfish, 65 sand bass, 5 sculpin, 1 yellowtail.
Oceanside: 72 anglers, two half-day boats: 1 halibut, 74 sand bass, 20 calico bass, 1 bonito, 1 barracuda. 26 anglers, one three-quarter-day boat: 1 halibut, 22 sand bass, 72 calico bass, 9 rockfish, 5 barracuda.
Short range: With warmer water, fishing has definitely shifted to the summer bite. Albacore, bluefin and yellowtail are all biting under kelp and in open waters approximately 70 miles southwest of San Diego.
Long range: Skipper Norm Kagawa's Shogun, Fisherman's Landing, reported a good mixed catch that included 55 yellowfin and 30 bluefin. Dale Puette, Oceanside, caught a 46.6 pound tuna. .

. Joe Preciado, Imperial Beach, caught a 49.4-pound tuna on Art Taylor's boat Searcher, Fisherman's Landing. .

. A 55.2 pound tuna was caught by Mike Hein, San Diego, on board Qualifier 105 skippered by Briam Sims.
Cabo San Lucas: Billfish are close, within 2-3 miles of the bay. Tuna are out of the south of Cabo with better results coming from the porpoise at 15-25 miles according to Larry Edwards of Cortez Yacht Charters.
NOTEWORTHY
Tournament: The San Diego Strokers Bass Club won the 29th annual Top Six Tournament at Lake Hodges. The team of Ditt Gifford and Bill Lanier, Scott McIntosh and Kent Geyer, and Glenn Morey and Bill Gilcrist combined for 15 fish and a total weight of 40.54 pounds. Hookers Bass Club finished second (37.25 pounds) and North County Bass Club (30.62) finished third. The tournament is sponsored by the San Diego Council of Bass Clubs and hosted by the San Diego Bassmasters.
