SAN MARCOS – A group of teenagers are suspected of stabbing a woman in the back and punching another woman during a purse robbery spree late Friday, authorities said.
The first incident occurred in the 5300 block of Elsinore Street in Oceanside just before 11 p.m., when three men got out of a car and robbed a man and woman at gunpoint. They punched both victims before driving off with the woman's purse and cash, Sgt. Leonard Mata said.
Next, they approached a woman who was walking home from a party near Rancho Santa Fe Road and Eighth Avenue in San Marcos, stabbing her three times in the back and taking her purse, said sheriff's detective Sgt. Tom Bulow. He said her injuries were non-life threatening.
About 5 a.m. Saturday, deputies stopped a car at Grand Avenue and Rancho Santa Fe after the driver ran a red light.
Two occupants got out and ran, and two others, both 18 and from Vista, were arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. Some of the stolen property was recovered.
