North Coastal Pet of the Week

April 13, 2006

Rancho Coastal Humane Society

Maya is a sweet, 2-year-old rabbit. She is a shy girl who recently arrived at the shelter. She's affectionate; she snuggles with her stuffed animal all the time. And she is friendly once she feels comfortable.

Because of her shyness, it is not recommended she be around children.

Her adoption fee is $25, which includes identification microchip, vaccinations, spaying, collar and a veterinary exam.

Maya and other animals are available for adoption at the Rancho Coastal Humane Society, 389 Requeza St., Encinitas. Information: (760) 753-6413 or www.rchumanesociety.org.

Animals are also available for adoption at the following shelters and humane societies:

Escondido Humane Society, 3450 E. Valley Parkway, Escondido. Information: (760) 888-BARK.

Helen Woodward Animal Center, 6461 El Apajo, Rancho Santa Fe. Information: (858) 756-4117 or www.animalcenter.org.

North County Animal Shelter, 2481 Palomar Airport Road, Carlsbad. Information: (760) 438-2312 or www.sddac.com.
