LeBron James, who had a game-high 22 points in the Cavaliers' 96-73 loss at Detroit, sprained his left ankle after being fouled on a drive to the basket with 1:46 left in the third quarter.
He left the game under his own power and was able to wear his shoes on his way to the bus, but it is doubtful he'll play tonight against the New York Knicks. The Cavs (47-31) are listing him as day-to-day.
“It's sprained pretty good, but nothing serious,” James said. “You never really know until the next day, but I've had them before, and this is nothing that bad.”
He has a history with such maladies. James missed three games with a right ankle sprain as a rookie and two games with a left ankle sprain last season.
