Vista spotlight

July 17, 2005

Music and ice cream are a summer tradition at the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe.

Folks are invited to come and sit under the shady magnolia tree in the courtyard while bluegrass band 117 West performs on the veranda of the adobe.

The Traditional Bluegrass Music and Ice Cream Social will be from 4 to 7 p.m. July 24.

The band will play pop, jazz and country music with traditional bluegrass instruments such as guitar, mandolin and banjo.

During the event, docents dressed in period clothing will give tours of the adobe's rooms and tell some of its stories.

An ice cream sundae or root beer float is included in the price of admission. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Proceeds help support the adobe.

Tickets are available at VisTix, the Adobe gift shop and at the gate of the adobe, 651 Vista Way.

For information, call (760) 639-6164.
