Gem career fair coming up
CARLSBAD – The Gemological Institute of America's Jewelry Career Fair will be July 29 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York.
The annual recruitment event draws upward of 1,000 job seekers, from seasoned professionals to recent graduates from all over the country.

Assi completes new homes
SAN MARCOS – Assi Development has completed two of eight new semi-custom homes on Joy Court, near California State University San Marcos.
The homes, with floor plans up to 4,300 square feet, are in various architectural styles, including Mediterranean and European. They are priced at about $900,000.
The architect is Omar Saiite of San Diego. Assi Development is based in Vista.
Innovative developing condos
ESCONDIDO – Innovative Communities of Escondido has started a condominium development in Las Vegas. It is expected to open later this year.
Monte Cielo, which will feature 84 triplexes, is at the South Shore at Lake Las Vegas Resort.
The company has developed more than 15,000 lots in Utah, Nevada and California since 1983.
So. Cal Tree Care honored
VISTA – So. Cal Tree Care in Vista has been named Business of the Year by Comerciantes Latinos Asociados (Latino Merchant Association).
The company is owned by Vincente Cortez Jr.
The business was chosen for Cortez's dedication to volunteerism and promoting economic development in the Latino community.
Cortez started the business after 20 years with his family's tree service.
The Latino Merchant Association promotes economic development in North County.

The Packing House in Fallbrook has been sold and is under renovation. The restaurant and bar, at 125 S. Main Ave., will become J.J. "Purty" Landers, an Irish pub and restaurant. New owners are Ned and Brenda Giblin, who also own Tom Giblin's Irish Pub in Carlsbad and R. OSullivan's in Escondido.
Curves Gym is scheduled to open at 123 W. Alvarado St., Fallbrook, on July 25. The owner is Ritzy Stanley.

Shake and Roll Cafe recently moved to 12250 El Camino Real, Suite 108, Carmel Valley. The business, which offers sandwiches and smoothies, was formerly at 427 S. Highway 101, Solana Beach. It is owned by Shake and Roll Cafe, L.L.C.
