ST. LOUIS – Jason Marquis pitched eight sharp innings to earn his first victory in more than a month as the St. Louis Cardinals continued their dominance of the Houston Astros at Busch Stadium.

Dating back to Game 1 of last year's National League Championship Series, the Cardinals have beaten the Astros nine straight at home.

The loss snapped Houston right-hander Roy Oswalt's six-start winning streak. Oswalt had not lost since dropping a 3-1 decision to the New York Mets on June 7. He had an ERA of 0.96 in his previous six starts, but gave up four runs and eight hits in six innings in his latest outing.

Marquis won for the first time in six starts dating to June 10.
